Stage 21

July 27 Ville d'Avray - Paris Champs-Elysees 160 km

The last stage started with the traditional parade and there was the sprint for the last KOM prime between Mercado and Moreau as I told you to watch for. Moreau passed Mercado for fourth place on KOM. Then the peloton returned to a parade mode until they reached the Champs Elysees.

Lotto and FDJ wage war for the first road prime with Cooke beating McEwen and tying in points for the Points Title and Green Jersey. Then there was some attacking which was quickly suppressed by USP until the second road prime. McEwen beat Cooke in the second road prime to retake the lead.

Following this prime, there was a barage of attacks with riders trying to get off for the stage win but the sprinter teams of FDJ and Lotto brought the last break back in and the top sprinter teams began positioning for the sprint. In the final sprint, Cooke beat McEwen taking the win for the Points Jersey with Paolini beating O'Grady moving into fifth for the title.

Tomorrow

Go out and enjoy a nice ride.
